cancel Mistakes to Avoid

visibility_off Reading without a clear intention

Problem: If I read just to “tick a box” or “because I should,” I miss the profound impact reading can have on my personal growth.
  • Before starting a book, I ask myself: What do I want to get from it?
  • I choose my reading according to my current needs (confidence, discipline, meaning, clarity…).

speed Reading too fast without allowing time to integrate

Problem: If I race through books without digesting the ideas, I retain little… and nothing changes.
  • I slow down to absorb the key ideas.
  • I pause to reflect on how to apply what I’m reading in my life.

edit_off Not taking notes or skimming key passages

Problem: Without notes, I reread the same ideas without truly retaining them. Everything stays vague and external to me.
  • I jot down sentences that resonate, aha moments, and concrete tips.
  • I use a notebook or app dedicated to my reading learnings.

notifications_off Reading with too many distractions

Problem: If I read while getting notifications or clock-watching, I’m there without being there. My brain misses the substance.
  • I create uninterrupted reading windows, in silence or with soft music.
  • I treat reading as a meditative practice, not just a mental activity.

chat Not talking about what I read

Problem: Ideas I keep to myself evaporate. By talking about them, I anchor them, understand them better, and live them.
  • I share what I learn with friends, online, or in my personal journal.
  • I explain in my own words what I’ve understood to integrate it better.

calendar_month Reading without consistency

Problem: Reading here and there without rhythm makes me lose the thread. I read without depth and lose momentum.
  • I read every day, even 5 minutes, to keep momentum and consistency.
  • I set a reading appointment in my routine (morning, break, evening…).

menu_book Only choosing “easy” or comfortable books

Problem: If I stick to what I already know, I never confront ideas that challenge or broaden my view.
  • I allow myself to read books that challenge or push me.
  • I vary my reading between inspiration, practical, philosophy, and introspection.
By avoiding these mistakes, every book becomes a lever for deep, lasting, and lively growth.
